The British pound has fallen to a new low against the euro today, with experts predicting it is only a matter of time before the two currencies achieve parity.
One euro was worth 96.79 pence Sterling this morning, the highest exchange rate since the single currently was introduced 10 years ago.
Meanwhile, oil prices have jumped by more than 5% today following the latest upsurge in violence in the Middle East.
A barrel of oil was trading for almost $40 on international markets.
