BIZ: ECB-Gold reserves down by 3 mln euros in week
FRANKFURT, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Gold and gold receivables held by euro zone central banks fell 3 million euros to 232.117 billion euros in the week ending Aug 7, the European Central Bank said on Tuesday.
Net foreign exchange reserves in the Eurosystem of central banks fell by 0.2 billion euros to 198 billion, the ECB said in its regular weekly consolidated financial statement.
Gold holdings fell because of sale by 1 euro zone central bank, consistent with the 2004 Central Bank Gold Agreement, the ECB said.
The ECB's balance sheet totalled 1.836 trillion euros, down from 1.854 trillion euros last week.
