LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares edged higher in ealry trading on Friday, up for the third day in a row, with miners and oil producers performing well as oil and most metal futures firmed. Of companies reporting earnings, ThyssenKrupp (DE:TKA 23.44, +0.93, +4.13%) shares rose 3.5% and Hochtief shares climbed 8.8%. Porsche (DE:PAH3 49.14, +4.44, +9.93%) shares climbed 10.8% after reaching a broad agreement with Volkswagen (DE:VOW 218.31, -9.68, -4.25%) over a takeover. The U.K. FTSE 100 index rose 0.3% to 4,769.47, the German DAX index advanced 0.1% to 5,406.68 and the French CAC-40 index rose 0.4% to 3,539.20.
