RTRS : Sterling extends losses vs dollar, hits lowest in 2 wks
LONDON, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Sterling extended losses on Monday, falling to its lowest level in more than two weeks as weak data on the UK housing market prompted traders to sell the pound, while risk aversion also pushed it lower.
Asking prices for homes in England and Wales are an average 3.1 percent lower this month than a year ago, while a monthly decline of 2.2 percent more than reversed a rise in July, property web site Rightmove said on Monday [ID:nLE591829].
The pound GBP=D4 fell roughly 1 percent on the day against the dollar to $1.6370, its weakest level since late July.
