| NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks on Thursday remained modestly higher as investors chewed two more pieces of economic data, including a 0.6% July rise in the index of leading indicators. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU 9,302, +22.67, +0.24%) rose 33.63 points to 9,312.79. The S&P 500 Index (SPX 1,001, +4.96, +0.50%) added 6.28 points to 1,002.73, bringing it above the 1,000-level for the first day in four. The Nasdaq Composite (COMP 1,980, +10.49, +0.53%) advanced 12.88 points to 1,982.02. |
