MW : Candover Investments swings to loss after charges
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Private equity group Candover Investments (UK:CDI 398.00, 0.00, 0.00%) Friday swung to a first-half loss of 27.1 million pounds, after taking an exceptional charge of 15.7 million pounds related to a strategic review, restructuring costs and discontinued operations in Asia and Eastern Europe. Last year, the firm posted a profit of 4.5 million pounds. Net assets per share totaled 902p, down 12% from Dec. 31 2008. "In the short term our portfolio companies continue to operate in a challenging economic climate, although we see some stability returning," the firm said.
