MW : Oil rises, while natural-gas prices extend slide
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Oil futures rose early Friday, as weakness in the U.S. dollar buoyed demand for dollar-denominated commodities. Crude oil for October delivery rose 98 cents, or 1.4%, to $73.88 a barrel in electronic trading on Globex. Earlier, the new front-month contract hit an intraday high of $74.05 a barrel. Separately, September natural-gas futures extended their decline after ending at a 7-year low in the previous session. Natural-gas prices were last down 4 cents, or 1.4%, to $2.093 per million British thermal units.
