| LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares declined in early trading on Wednesday, with oil and gas producers the biggest drag as shares of BP (UK:BP. 533.00, 0.00, 0.00%) fell 1% and BG Group (UK:BG. 1,067, 0.00, 0.00%) shares also declined 1%. On the plus side, shares of brewer Heineken (NL:HEIA 27.86, -0.04, -0.14%) jumped 7.4% after it reported an above-forecast jump in first-half net profit. The U.K. FTSE 100 index edged down 0.3% at 4,900.23, the German DAX 30 index lost 0.4% to 5,535.91 and the French CAC-40 index lost 0.4% to 3,666.47. |
