MW: Gold taps fresh, 18-month intraday high on Globex

TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures climbed to a fresh 18-month high in electronic trading on Globex by late Thursday afternoon in Tokyo. December gold, the most active contract, climbed to $1,025.20 an ounce, up $5 on Globex, the strongest intraday level since March 2008. "We expect further price gains as real interest rates are likely to fall and our FX analysts see further downside for the USD," analysts at Credit Suisse wrote in a note to clients issued Thursday.
