LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European stock markets moved higher in early trading, with mining stocks rebounding from the previous session's losses. Shares in Xstrata (UK:XTA 945.00, +13.00, +1.40%) and Lonmin (UK:LMI 1,725, +26.00, +1.53%) both rose 1.8%, while Rio Tinto (UK:RIO 2,701, +57.50, +2.18%) [s:rtp] added 2.1% after it announced a deal to sell its Alcan Composites business for $349 million. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 rose 0.6% to 5,164.08, the French CAC 40 added 0.6% at 3,836.63 and the German DAX 30 gained 0.7% at 5,707.88.
