NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Treasury prices on Thursday held onto most of Wednesday's gains after the Labor Department said 530,000 more Americans filed first-time claims for unemployment benefits in the latest week, down 21,000 from the previous week. Continuing claims also declined. Ten-year note yields (UST10Y 3.41, -0.03, -0.93%) , which move inversely to prices, slid 1 basis point to 3.42%. Still to come is data on existing-home sales and the government's auction of a record amount of 7-year notes. Treasurys advanced on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve said it would extend its mortgage-buying program and keep interest rates low for an extended time.
