NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures extended their losses Thursday after the Labor Department reported first-time claims for state unemployment benefits last week rose for the first time in four weeks. November crude futures lost 81 cents, or 1.2%, to $69.80 a barrel in early North American electronic trading, it was down less than 1% before the data. In other commodities, gold futures remained lower, with the December contract down $4.50, or 0.5%, to $1,004.80 an ounce.
