By Kate Gibson NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock futures stepped mildly higher on Tuesday after the release of the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index for August, which rose 1.2%. Up about 10 points ahead of the report, futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were more recently up 18 points at 9,859.00. Those for the S&P 500 rose 1.1 points to 1,067.50. Nasdaq 100 futures declined 1.75 points to 1,746.25.
