NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks on Thursday hit new session highs, with the information-technology sector fronting a fourth day of gains on the S&P 500, after another round of upbeat economic data and strong quarterly results from tech giant Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO 23.88, +0.59, +2.53%) . The Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU 9,981, +178.81, +1.82%) added 180 points, or 1.8%, to 9,982.38. The S&P 500 Index (SPX 1,063, +16.91, +1.62%) rose 16.89 points, or 1.6%, to 1,063.39. The Nasdaq Composite (COMP 2,101, +46.13, +2.24%) gained 44.94 pionts to 2,100.46. |
