BS: Rupee regains strength versus dollar
 
KARACHI: The rupee recorded gains versus the dollar in the interbank market, dealers said on Friday.

The dollar commenced the day’s trading at Rs 83.69 for buying, continued to lose grounds and closed at Rs 83.55 for buying and Rs 83.60 for selling. Thus, the rupee incurred a gain of 14 piasas.

However, the euro dominated the rupee, as it kicked off the day’s trading at Rs 123.51 for buying, appreciated and closed at Rs 124.45 for buying and Rs 124.65 for selling. Therefore, the rupee incurred a loss of 94 paisas.

The pound also recorded gains versus the rupee, as it commenced the day’s trading at Rs 138.33 for buying, registered gains and closed at Rs 138.77 for buying and Rs 138.97 for selling. Therefore, the rupee incurred a loss of 44 paisas.

Open market: The dollar continued its downward march versus the rupee, dealers said. The dollar started the day’s trading at Rs 84.05 for buying, recorded strength and closed at Rs 83.90 for buying and Rs 84.00 for selling. Therefore, the rupee incurred a gain of 15 paisas.

The euro remained up versus the rupee, as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 123.45 for buying, recorded gains and closed at Rs 124.10 for buying and Rs 124.60 for selling. Therefore, the rupee incurred a loss of 65 piasas.

The British currency also appreciated against the rupee, as it started the day’s trading at Rs 137.90 for buying, appreciated and closed at Rs 138.35 for buying and Rs 138.85 for selling. Therefore, the rupee incurred a loss of 45 paisas. staff report
