KM: US: Dollar Tree Records Strong Sales Growth In Q3
Discount variety retailer Dollar Tree has reported strong growth figures for the third quarter, as it continues to thrive in the recession. For the quarter ending 1 November, net sales rose by 12.1% to $1.25bn, even as same-store sales rose by 6.5%.
The company said the growth was driven by higher customer traffic. It added that its best-selling categories were health and beauty care basics, household consumables, party supplies, and seasonal ranges such as those for Halloween.
During the quarter, the company opened 94 stores, closed another eight, and expanded or relocated 33 stores. It now operates 3,803 stores in 48 states across the US.
