News that the jobless rate topped 10 percent pushed crude oil prices down to $77.43 a barrel on Friday, providing some temporary relief at the pump.
The national average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas fell 3 cents in the last week, to $2.66.
However, Florida’s average price of gasoline declined by just 1.8 cents, to $2.71 a gallon.
“The price at the pump does not fully reflect the increase in October wholesale prices,” said Gregg Laskoski, managing director of public relations for AAA Auto Club South, in a news release. “For now, it appears that retail margins are tightening and they have not yet passed along the entire 30-cents-per-gallon (on average) increase in October wholesale prices.”
West Palm Beach continued to lead the way with the highest prices in the tri-county area, at $2.78 a gallon, down from $2.80 a week ago.
Miami checked in at $2.76 a gallon, down from $2.77 last week.
Fort Lauderdale reported $2.75 a gallon, down from $2.77 a week ago.
