TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- Japanese shares traded on a mixed note Wednesday morning, with technology shares mainly higher following gains on Wall Street, but financials and oil stocks traded mostly lower. Japan's Nikkei 225 Average was up 0.4% to 9,770.85 while the Topix was down 0.2% at 855.56 in Tokyo. Shares of Inpex Corp. (JP:1605 755,000, -5,000, -0.66%) (IPXH.Y 84.44, +0.04, +0.05%) shed 1.2% and Nippon Oil Corp. (JP:5001 390.00, -2.00, -0.51%) lost 1.3%. Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (JP:8316 3,030, -20.00, -0.66%) (SMFJ.Y 3.37, -0.06, -1.75%) also fell by 2.3% and Mizuho Trust & Banking Co. (JP:8404 80.00, -2.00, -2.44%) (MZATF 0.89, -0.02, -2.55%) fell 1.3%. But Elpida Memory Inc. (JP:6665 1,130, -28.00, -2.42%) rose 3.4% and Advantest Corp. (JP:6857 2,035, +30.00, +1.50%) (ATE 22.88, +0.13, +0.58%) added 3%. South Korea's Kospi added 0.7% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.9%.
