MY: Sensex trades lower; Tata Motors drop
 
The Sensex continues to trade in negative terrain on the back of profit booking seen in index heavyweights. Realty, banking and oil & gas stocks declined, while healthcare and IT moved up.

BSE Midcap and Smalcap index rose 0.10% and 0.87% respectively.

Asian stocks declined from a 15-month high led by mining companies after US service industries unexpectedly shrank, raising concern the economic recovery is still fragile. Japanese benchmark index Nikkei 225 fell 15.59 points, or 0.16%, to trade at 9,959.55. Hong Kong`s Hang Seng dropped 313.01 points, or 1.39%, at 22,240.86. China`s Shanghai Composite dipped 23.03 points, or 0.71% to trade at 3,241.59. (11.10 a.m)

Indian stock market begun the day on a negative terrain after a rise of 0.09% on the previous working day. The 30-share index, BSE Sensex opened with a loss of 3.45 points, at 17,182.23 on Friday.

Currently, the 30-share index Sensex is trading down 41.04 points, or 0.24%, at 17,144.64, after touching a high of 17,189.14 and a low of 17,053.59. Meanwhile the broad based Nifty is trading lower by 13.85 points, or 0.27%, at 5,117.85, after hitting a high of 5,133.20 and a low of 5,089.60. (11.04 a.m.)

Overall market breadth is positive. Out of the total 2,314 stocks traded at BSE, 1,322 advanced, 919 declined while 73 remained unchanged.

Among the sectoral indices, BSE IT which climbed 0.75%, HC went up 0.69%, TECk gained 0.54%, FMCG went up 0.28% and Consumer Durables rose 0.18%, BSE Realty dropped 1.22%, Oil & Gas declined 0.85%, Bankex lost 0.84%, Auto dropped 0.53% and Metal went down 0.11%.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Hindalco Industries (3.89%), Wipro (2.97%), State Bank Of India(2.50%), Grasim Industries (2.43%), ACC (2.38%), and Reliance Capital (1.90%).

On the other hand, Tata Motors (2.36%), ICICI Bank (2.14%), Hero Honda Motors (1.76%), DLF (1.63%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.41%), and Jaiprakash Associates (1.17%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
