MW: U.S. stock futures remain up after jobless data

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock futures retained gains early Thursday after the Labor Department reported the number of people filing for jobless benefits rose by 17,000 to 474,000 last week, with the count higher than expected. Separately, the Commerce Department said the nation's trade deficit upexpectedly narrowed by 7.6% in October. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were up 66 points at 10,396. Those for the S&P 500 were ahead 7.9 points at 1,103.50. Those for the Nasdaq 100 were up 8 points at 1,800.50.
