MW: China imposes measures on European steel fasteners

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- China's Ministry of Commerce said Wednesday it will impose temporary anti-dumping measures against imports of carbon steel fasteners from the European Union, according to a report by the state-run Xinhua news agency. The preliminary ruling requires importers of certain types of fasteners, such as screws and bolts, to pay deposits from Dec. 28 of between 16.8% and 24.6%, the report said. The announcement follows a decision by the World Trade Organization earlier in the week to investigate Chinese restrictions on the export of some raw materials, a move prompted by complaints from the EU, U.S. and Mexico. Carbon steel fasteners are used in the production of automobiles and electronics, among other items.
