MW: Commodities edge lower after consumer confidence

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude and gold futures fell modestly Tuesday as the Conference Board reported consumer confidence increased in December, but the confidence index came a little lower than economists had anticipated. Crude for February delivery lost 0.2% to $78.64 a barrel, while February gold fell 0.4% to $1,103.70 an ounce.
