RTTN: Dollar Soars To Fresh 3-month High Against Yen
(RTTNews) - The US dollar edged sharply higher against the yen in early New York trading on Thursday following the US Labor Department data showed that initial jobless claims unexpectedly fell for the week.
The greenback touched 92.79 against the yen around 8:35 am ET, the highest level since September 8. The next upside target for the dollar-yen pair is likely seen around the 93.4 level. The pair closed yesterday's deals at 92.43.
The report showed that jobless claims fell to 432,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 454,000. The decrease came as a surprise to economists, who had expected jobless claims to edge up to 460,000 from the 452,000 originally reported for the previous week.
