NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude and gold futures remained lower Thursday after the Labor Department reported the number of initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose slightly last week to a seasonally adjusted 434,000. February crude was last down 0.6% at $82.67 a barrel, and February gold lost 0.4% to $1,131.50 an ounce.
