RTRS: Yen extends losses, hits 4-month low vs dollar
LONDON, Jan 7 (Reuters) - The yen hit a four-month low against the dollar on Thursday, extending losses after Japan's incoming finance minister said the currency should weaken more.
The dollar JPY= rose as high as 93.27 yen according to Reuters data, its highest since early September.
The yen struggled broadly after Finance Minister Naoto Kan said many Japanese firms were in favour of dollar/yen around 95 yen, and that he would work with the Bank of Japan to bring the yen to an appropriate level.
