RTTN: US Dollar Up Ahead Of December Non-farm Payrolls Report
(RTTNews) - The US Labor Department's monthly non-farm payroll report is slated for release at 8:30 am ET. The report is expected to show that the economy lost 35,000 jobs in the month, although the unemployment rate is expected to be unchanged at 10%.
Last month, the government report showed the economy lost 11,000 jobs, a significantly slower decline than the 111,000 that was seen in October. The jobless rate slipped to 10.0 percent in November from October's reading of 10.2 percent.
The dollar remained firmer ahead of the report. Currently, the greenback is quoted at 1.4277 against the euro, 1.038 versus the Swiss franc, 93.43 against the yen and 1.5997 per pound.
