MW: Retail stocks fall as Dec. consumer spending slows

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Retail stocks dropped on Monday as Americans increased their spending in December at the slowest pace since September. The S&P Retail Index (RLX 397.36, -0.12, -0.03%) fell 0.3% to 396.49. Among the decliners, Macy's Inc. (M 15.56, -0.37, -2.32%) shares fell 2.6% after its stock was cut to hold from buy by Deutsche Bank.
