MW: Crude oil, gold stay down after jobless claims

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude oil and gold futures stayed lower on Thursday after the government said jobless claims unexpectedly rose 8,000 to 480,000 in the latest week. Crude oil for March delivery was down 84 cents, or 1.1%, at $76.13 a barrel. Gold for April delivery fell 5.70, or 0.5%, at $1,106.20 an ounce.
