BN: Palm Oil Exports Up 19.39 Per Cent In January 2010
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's palm oil exports in January 2010 rose by 19.39 per cent to 1.462 million tonnes from 1.224 million tonnes in the previous month.
However, the export of palm kernel oil declined to 103,100 tonnes from 104,585 tonnes and that of palm kernel cake fell to 249,979 tonnes from 291,671 tonnes tonnes during the period, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) said today.
Olechemical exports dropped to 185,756 tonnes from 197,719 tonnes and biodiesel exports were lower by 25.9 per cent at 7,500 tonnes from 10,126 tonnes previously.
Import of crude palm oil (CPO) in the first month of 2010 decreased to 139,378 tonnes from 153,797 tonnes in December 2009 while that of palm oil went down to 155,803 tonnes from 165,237 tonnes, the MPOB said.
However, the import of processed palm oil increased from 11,441 tonnes to 16,425 tonnes, it said in a statement today.
MPOB said that total palm oil stocks in January 2010 declined to 2.1 million tonnes from 2.24 million tonnes due to higher export and lower production during the month.
Of the total, CPO stocks went down to 1.131 million tonnes from 1.197 million tonnes in December while processed palm oil stocks decreased to 870,065 tonnes from 1.042 tonnes previously.
Total CPO production in January 2010 was lower at 1.321 million tonnes compared to 1.52 million tonnes in the previous month while palm kernel production dropped to 343,123 tonnes from 391,814 tonnes previously.
Crude palm kernel oil production fell to 172,758 tonnes from 193,501 tonnes previously and palm kernel cake production went down to 190,587 tonnes from 213,027 tonnes.
