LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares traded mostly lower on Tuesday, with Commerzbank (DE:CBK 5.61, -0.32, -5.33%) shares down 7.2% in a lower banking sector after posting a bigger net loss than expected. Also in Germany, pharmaceutical firm Merck KGaA (DE:MRK 60.13, -4.38, -6.79%) lost 6.9% after posting a lower-than-expected profit. The German DAX index declined 0.5% to 5,658.36, the French CAC-40 index lost 0.2% to 3,748.51 while the U.K. FTSE 100 index rose 0.1% to 5,356.56.
