NEW YORK, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices dropped below $79 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Tuesday morning, as the dollar index headed higher.
April delivery light, sweet crude oil lost $1.33 to $78.98 with the dollar index up 0.21 percent. Heating oil prices fell 0.0301 cents to $2.0487 per gallon. Reformulated gasoline blendstock prices lost 0.0241 cents to $2.0917 per gallon. Natural gas prices lost 0.027 cents to $4.868 per million British thermal units.
At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline was $2.66 per gallon Tuesday, up from Monday's $2.648, AAA said.
