LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Industrial new orders in the 16-nation euro zone saw a monthly 0.8% rise in December, the European Union statistics agency Eurostat reported Wednesday. Compared to December 2008, orders were up 9.5%. Economists had forecast a 0.5% monthly fall and a 7% annual rise. For the full year, the 2009 new orders index fell 22.6%, Eurostat said.
