Average retail gasoline prices in Pensacola rose 4.9 cents a gallon in the past week, averaging $2.61 a gallon on Monday.
This compares with the national average that has increased 3.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.65 a gallon, according to gasoline price Web site PensacolaGasPrices.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Pensacola during the past week, prices Monday were 75 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and 9.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 6.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 75.4 cents per gallon higher than this day a year ago.
Crude oil closed at its highest price in five weeks last Friday ($78.19) amid concerns future gasoline supplies may tighten in response to a strike at a French refinery.
