NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks fell in early action on Thursday, as oil dropped below $82 a barrel and the broad market slipped. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI 1,071, -0.39, -0.04%) dipped 0.2% to 1,069, pulling back from gains in the previous session. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG 553.58, -1.64, -0.30%) dropped 0.2% to 554. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX 209.81, -1.56, -0.74%) fell 0.9% to 210. Oil futures fell 16 cents to $81.93. Exxon Mobil (XOM 67.11, -0.11, -0.16%) rose 4 cents to $67.26. Devon Energy (DVN 72.11, +0.26, +0.36%) rose 0.5% to $72.24. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU 10,514, -53.58, -0.51%) dropped 25 points. |
