DEARBORN (WKZO) -- AAA Michigan's weekly report on gasoline prices shows they are up nearly 17 cents per gallon over the past week to a statewide average of $3.00.
The auto club's latest report shows the statewide average is 40 cents per gallon higher than last year at this time.
Pollster Trilby Lundberg believes global forces are at work.
"Supply is fine, and we have much more refining capacity than we can even used right now because demand is no good," Lundberg said. "What we have is crude oil prices doing this...because the weaker dollar has bolstered the oil price."
