VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - With prices at the pump pushing $1.20/litre, it feels more like summer driving. It turns out the price of crude knows no season.
For many people this is the most expensive time of the year, when mixing a lofty price at local gas stations into the holiday budget is just a bummer.
Some people News1130 chatted with say they're cutting back on how much goes in the tank. One man told us he only puts $8 worth into his car. "It's outrageous! It's at least 20 per cent higher than it should be. It's 20 per cent higher than in Ontario. Why do we pay the highest gas prices in Canada? It's crazy."
One industry analyst reminds drivers what we pay at the pump is determined by the price of crude oil, the mark-up at the refinery and dealership and don't forget all those taxes. They're all factors independent of the time of year.
