Stock index futures in the United States were trading higher early Tuesday, with the U.S. dollar dropping against most peers, ahead of a housing report.
At the time of writing, S&P 500 futures edged up 2.5 points to 1255 while Nasdaq futures climbed 3 points to 2233.
At 9:00 a.m. (E.T.), the S&P/Case-Shiller 20-City Composite Index, that tracks home prices, is due, and a consensus of experts estimates a rise of 0.1%. Also out later after market open is the consumer confidence index. The earnings calendar for the day is empty.
On Tuesday, crude oil prices continued to add to their recent gains while gold also advanced.
Abroad, Asian markets ended lower, led by Chinese equities that were bogged down by weekend’s interest-rate hike. But European stocks were trading firmer on commodity plays.

Late on Monday evening, AMD said it would stop accounting for its investment in GlobalFoundries in its income.
While Alcatel-Lucent agreed to settle a bribery case with the SEC for $137 million. The stock was trading 1.7% higher in pre-market trade.
