(RTTNews) - Friday in New York, the U.K.'s sterling strengthened against most of its major counterparts and touched a new multi-week peak of 0.8356 against the euro around 9:15 am ET.
The pound also recovered from its previous session's 8-day low against the US dollar and a 2-day low versus the Swiss franc to reach as high as 1.5537 and 1.5015, respectively at this time.
Though the pound erased some of its earlier gains immediately after the weaker-than expected US employment data, it recovered losses shortly and is presently staying around the 129.0 area.
