NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 15:
Exports continued to rise for the fifth straight month though at a slightly lower pace to at 4.32 per cent to $22.11 billion in January.
Meanwhile, imports during the month increased by 10.7 per cent to $31.95 billion, taking the overall trade deficit to $9.48 billion. The trade deficit was at $7.66 billion in January last year.
ÔÇťOverall the trade balance has improved,ÔÇŁ said the Commerce Ministry on Wednesday. Taking merchandise and services together, overall trade deficit for April to January 2016-17 is estimated at $ 38.07billion, which is 29.7 % lower in dollar terms than the level of $ 54.18 billion during the same period a year ago.
