NEW DELHI: Silver futures prices gained 0.17 per cent on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Monday as speculators indulged in creating fresh positions in tandem with firming trend in the Asian as well as domestic markets.
On the MCX counter, silver for September month contract gained 0.17 per cent to Rs 23,426 per kg with an open interest of 12,286 lots. Similarly, the metal for delivery in December month contract traded higher by the same margin at Rs 23,550 in open int erest of 1,190 lots. The rise in silver prices is attributed to a firm trend in the Asian regions, traders said. They said a pick up in demand in view of the festival season also influenced the trading sentiment.
Meanwhile, silver traded higher by 0.04 per cent at $14.68 an ounce in the Asian region. - PTI
