MW: BOJ says Japan 'showing signs of recovery'

By Lisa Twaronite
TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- The Bank of Japan's policy board said Thursday it unanimously voted to hold its key unsecured overnight call loan rate unchanged at 0.1%, and it slightly upgraded its economic view for the first time since July. The BOJ said domestic economic conditions are "showing signs of recovery." In July, it said the economy had "stopped worsening." Investors were awaiting BOJ Gov. Masaaki Shirakawa's press conference, in hopes of signals as to when the central bank could end its special liquidity-boosting programs, now scheduled to expire at the end of the year.
