Gold extended its push beyond the $1,020 mark on Thursday, closing in on the record price set in March last year as bullion was boosted by renewed dollar weakness and concerns about the outlook for inflation.
It reached a high of $1,023.85 a troy ounce after settling at $1,016.70 at the end of Wednesday’s session in New York, its highest ever closing price. Gold has set closing highs in three of the last four sessions.
