PTI; Gold prices fall by Rs 100 on poor offtake

New Delhi, Sep 18 (PTI) Gold prices fell for the second day today losing Rs 100 at Rs 16,090 per ten gram in the bullion market here on reduced offtake by stockists at existing higher levels.

Silver prices also fell by Rs 100 to Rs 26,700 per kg.

Marketmen said prices of the metal moved in narrow range as stockists and jewellery fabricators refrained from enlarging their positions at prevailing higher levels.

A weakening trend in overseas market remained an additional dampening factor for the metals, they added.

The precious metal in London fell for the second day as a rebounding dollar curbed demand for the gold as an alternative investment. It lost 0.5 per cent to 1,008.26 dollar an ounce.

In the domestic market, standard gold and ornaments fell by Rs 100 each to Rs 16,090 and Rs 15,940 per ten gram respectively.
