RTTN: Canadian Dollar Spikes Up Further Against Major Rivals
(RTTNews) - The Canadian dollar spiked up further against major opponents during New York mid-morning trading on Wednesday. The loonie climbed to new multi-week highs against the US dollar and the yen in the same session.
The loonie extended previous session's uptrend against the US dollar and the Japanese yen in New York morning trading today. The loonie hit new multi-week highs of 1.0435 against the greenback at about 8:05 am ET and 86.18 versus the yen by about 10:20 am ET from Tuesday's closing value of 1.0496 and 85.62, respectively.
The Canadian currency also ticked up against the euro and the Australian dollar in today's New York deals. At present, the loonie is worth new multi-day highs of 1.5658 against the euro and 0.9710 versus the Aussie, which mat be compared to yesterday's close of 1.5737 and 0.9767, respectively.
Light sweet crude for December rose to $80.05 per barrel, up $1 for the session. Prices reached as high as $80.10 earlier in the session.
The American Petroleum Institute reported late Tuesday that crude oil stockpiles rose 1.2 million barrels in the week ended November 6. Gasoline inventories increased 1.4 million barrels in the recent week.
