NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude and gold futures remained higher Monday after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the U.S. economy still faces considerable challenges, but the most likely outcome is moderate economic growth with subdued inflation. December crude rose 3.2% to $78.78 a barrel, and December gold was up 1.4% at $1,132 an ounce.
