RTRS: Nikkei rises 0.4 percent in choppy trade, exporters up
TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.4 percent in choppy trade on Wednesday as shares of exporters such as Sony Corp (6758.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) recouped ground after sharp declines.
But Daikyo Inc (8840.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and shares of other apartment developers as well as some creditors sank after unlisted Anabuki Construction went under in Japan's fifth-biggest corporate failure this year.
The benchmark Nikkei .N225 gained 40.06 points to 9,441.64 after earlier falling as low as 9,366.33, its lowest level since mid-July.
The broader Topix .TOPX added 0.5 percent to 833.29.
