NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks on Wednesday erased most of their early gains after the government said new home sales fell 11.3% in November, while a Reuters/University of Michigan index of consumer sentiment was revised downward. Up about 30 points ahead of the data, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU 10,451, -14.06, -0.13%) was lately down 8.16 points at 10,456.77. The S&P 500 Index (SPX 1,118, -0.29, -0.03%) was flat at 1,118.23. The Nasdaq Composite (COMP 2,257, +3.89, +0.17%) gained 4.37 points to 2,257.04. |
