BS: Sensex ends up 114pts

The Sensex has ended (provisional) at 17,673 - up 114 points.

The Nifty ended (provisional) at 5,273 - up 41 points.

The markets continue to display firm trend in late noon trades. The Sensex is now up 118 points agt 17,676, and the Nifty is up 42 points at 5,274.

The Sensex has retained the firm move and is now at 17,672, up 113 points. The NSE Nifty is at 5,272, up 40 points.

The BSE metal index is up at 3.5% at 18,368.

Hindalco continues to lead the list of gainers on the Sensex, has soared 7% to Rs 174. Jaiprakash Associates and Sterlite are up over 4% each at Rs 160 and Rs 910, respectively.

Grasim Industries and Mahindra & Mahindra are up 3% each at Rs 2,630 and Rs 1,164, respectively.

Tata Steel, Tata Power, DLF, Bharti Airtel and Sun Pharma, up 1-2% each.

Maruti has slipped 2% to Rs 1,522 and Tata Motors is down 1% at Rs 818, respectively.

The market breadth is still positive, out of 2,877 shares traded, 1,846 have advanced and 951 have declined so far on the BSE.
