NEW YORK, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices rebounded overnight in New York with prices closing in on $82 per barrel in advance of a U.S. inventory report.
Oil prices finished nine consecutive trading sessions showing gains with a drop Tuesday, but prices raced back to $81.78 per barrel overnight, near a 15-month high.
Heating oil prices, which normally follow suit, shifted lower, losing 0.0129 cents to $2.1812 per gallon. Reformulated gasoline prices lost 0.0125 cents to $2.1125 per gallon. Natural gas prices rose 0.178 cents to $5.815 per million British thermal units.
At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline, $1 higher than a year ago, added 0.018 cents to $2.658 per gallon Wednesday, AAA said.
