MW: Energy stocks rise with broad market, oil prices

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks rose on Monday as the sector tapped into strength in the broad market, while oil giant Exxon Mobil (XOM 65.91, +1.48, +2.30%) reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter profit. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI 1,035, +17.42, +1.71%) rose 1.6% to 1,033. Component Exxon Mobil rose 2% to $65.71. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG 529.10, +10.71, +2.07%) rose 1.9% to 528. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX 196.92, +4.18, +2.17%) advanced 1.7% to 196. Crude oil futures rose 57 cents to $73.46. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU 10,148, +80.56, +0.80%) rose 44 points.
